New Laptops Launches in 2023 – What to expect?

2022 is almost over. We got to see a wide variety of laptop models launched this year online in India. Almost all laptop manufacturers launched new 2022 series laptops powered by 12th Gen Intel processors and AMD Ryzen 6000 Series processors. We even saw a couple of futuristic Foldable laptops from Asus and Lenovo announced this year.

2023 is going to be a great year for the laptop market with new 13th Gen Intel processors and Nvidia RTX 40 Series graphics in the pipeline. Let’s see what we can expect in the upcoming 2023 year in the laptop market scene.

Affordable OLED laptops

In 2022, Asus launched a bunch of laptop models featuring Full HD / 2.8K resolution OLED screens. Some of these even supported touchscreen. Laptop models like ASUS Vivobook S15 OLED 2022, Zenbook 14 OLED 2022, Vivobook Pro 14 OLED, etc came with OLED panels offering a great visual experience and you didn’t have to break the bank to get your hands on these.

There aren’t many under ₹50,000 OLED laptop models currently available. ASUS Vivobook 14 OLED X1405ZA-KM311WS powered by 12th Gen Intel Core i3-1215U which has a launch price of ₹54,990 come close. There are a few 2021 Asus laptops powered by 11th Gen Intel Core i3 processors still available to purchase. In 2023, we can expect very affordable laptops with OLED screens to launch.

Foldable Laptops

In 2022, Asus and Lenovo announced OLED foldable laptops. These are quite expensive, but that is to be expected as these are the first-gen models that offer a premium experience. Asus Zenbook 17 Fold OLED UX9702AA-MD023WS has a launch selling price of ₹3,29,990 in India. Lenovo has announced ThinkPad X1 Fold 16 Gen 1 21ES0015IG model for the Indian market but is not available to purchase at the time of this writing. We can expect a few more foldable laptops to launch in 2023, but they are not going to flood the market and will be still expensive.

No More 11th-Gen Intel Laptops

Even after Intel launched 12th Gen Alder Lake processors, we still go to see some Laptops with 11th Gen Intel processors launching in 2022. We are already seeing popular laptop manufacturers like Asus, Dell, Acer, HP, Lenovo, LG etc powering their new laptops with 12th Gen Intel processors and no longer launching laptops with 11th Gen Intel processors.

Last month, Intel announced Raptor Lake 13th Gen Desktop processors and we have already seen many gaming desktop manufacturers launching products with the new processors inside. Intel is expected to launch 13th gen processor variants for the laptops soon as well, so we can expect many laptops with these newer and faster processors to launch in the latter part of 2023.

AMD Ryzen 6000 and 7000 Series Laptops

With the AMD Ryzen 5000 Series ( like Ryzen 7 5800H, Ryzen 5 5500U etc ), AMD was able to gain the upper hand when they were competing against Intel 11th Gen processors. These AMD variants offered more cores and generally offered better performance. However, at the time of writing, Intel is slowly taking that crown back with the 12th Gen Intel processor which offered a combination of Performance-cores and Efficient-cores.

In the latter half of 2022, we got to see many AMD Ryzen 6000 Series ( Ryzen 7 6800H, Ryzen 9 6900HX etc ) powered laptops from Dell, Asus, Lenovo etc available to purchase in India. In the year 2023, along with new laptops with Ryzen 6000 Series, we can expect many new Laptops powered by AMD Ryzen 7000 Series processors to launch in Indian markets.

Laptops with Better Resolution Screens

In 2022, some laptop manufacturers up their game by offering better-resolution screens on their mid-range laptop models. Full HD screens are the norm, but laptops like HP Pavilion Plus Laptop 14-eh0025TU, Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 Pro 82L700D0IN, Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 Pro 82L3009LIN, and HP 14-eh0021TU Pavilion Plus came with a 2.2K resolution display offering a crispier and better visual experience.

We also saw many laptops with 2.8K resolution screens such as ASUS Vivobook 14 OLED X1405ZA-KM511WS, ASUS UP5401ZA-KN711WS Zenbook Flip 14, HP Pavilion Plus 14-eh0024TU, Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro 82NC00EWIN etc.

In 2023, this trend is going to continue. More and more laptop manufacturers are going to adopt higher resolution screens for their 2023 line-up.

Gaming Laptops with new Nvidia Graphics

Nvidia has officially announced GeForce RTX 40 Series graphics for Desktop PCs. Desktops with RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 Graphics cards are already being sold in many markets worldwide. In 2023, we can expect Nvidia RTX 40 Series powered laptops to arrive.

In all likelihood, new Laptops with RTX 3050, RTX 3050 Ti, RTX 3060, RTX 2050, and GTX 1650 graphics are still going to be arriving in the market.

What to expect from Apple?

A few years back, Apple abandoned Intel and started powering their Macbook Air and Macbook Pro laptops with their own ARM Apple Silicon chips offering much better performance and battery life. Apple M1 was the first chip in this series. The newer 2022 Macbooks use more powerful Apple M2 chips.

In 2023, we predict Apple to launch new Macbook Pro and Air models with Apple M3 Silicon or maybe an Apple M2 Max variant, with all models featuring the new Macbook design with Full HD webcams. UI Design-wise, there is a chance, Apple will bring the Dynamic Island feature which debuted on the iPhone 14 Pro series to the Mac OS.

Many Apple fans have been wishing for an OLED Macbook Air or Pro model, but chances for that to arrive in 2023 are rare.
