12th Gen Intel Core i3 processors are expected to take over the budget and entry-level laptops launching in late 2022. There are a few different 12th Gen Alder Lake Core i3 chipsets Intel has made available to laptop OEMs. Some of these are used on Desktop models like Lenovo IdeaCentre Gaming 5 17IAB7 while others are aimed at entry-level laptops.
12th Gen Intel Core i3 processors have more cores than their predecessors. The 11th Gen chipsets such as Core i3-1125G4 and Core i3-1115G4 only had one type of core while the newer processors come with 2 types of cores – Performance-core ( P-cores ) and Efficient-core ( E-core ).
Below are the various 12th Gen Intel Core i3 processor 2022 series announced.
- Intel Core i3-1215UE ( 6 cores / 2 P-cores / 4 E-cores / up to 4.40 GHz )
- Intel Core i3-1220PE ( 8 cores / 4 P-cores / 4 E-cores / up to 4.20 GHz )
- Intel Core i3-1215U ( 6 cores / 2 P-cores / 4 E-cores / up to 4.40 GHz )
- Intel Core i3-1210U ( 6 cores / 2 P-cores / 4 E-cores / up to 4.40 GHz )
- Intel Core i3-1220P ( 10 cores / 2 P-cores / 8 E-cores / up to 4.40 GHz )
As you can see from the list above, Core i3-1220P has a lot of cores compared to older gen i3 processors and is the high-end, best-performing 12th Gen Intel processor in the 2022 i3 Series. It has 10-cores with 2 Performance-cores and 8 Efficient-cores supporting 12 threads in total.
As of this writing, there aren’t many 12th Gen Intel Core i3 powered laptops available to purchase in India. Check some of the currently listed models online on Amazon.in / Flipkart and upcoming laptops ( if any ) below.
Currently, Acer Aspire 3 A315-59 is the cheapest 12th Gen Core i3 laptop you can buy today online in India. It costs ₹44,999 ( Check current price ).
Oct 18 Update: Asus has launched 12th Gen Intel Core i3-1215U powered Vivobook 14 OLED X1405ZA-KM311WS Laptop in India with a 2.8K OLED display making it the cheapest 2.8K OLED laptop to buy in India.
