Ubuntu 23.04 Lunar Lobster will be officially released by Canonical on April 20, 2023. You can upgrade your current Ubuntu 22.10 system to the latest 23.04 easily and enjoy the new features and improved UI.
First, you need to Open the Software updater and install all the updates currently available for your existing system. After that Open the Software update settings and change ‘Notify me of a new Ubuntu version’ to ‘For any new version’.
Next, Open a Terminal and type in the command ‘update manager -d‘. This should show Ubuntu 23.04 is available. Click on the Upgrade button and proceed with the process.
The installation process will go through a few different flows, which can take hours if your internet connection is a bit slow. Once everything is successfully installed and updated, you will be able to use the shiny new Ubuntu 23.04 Lunar Lobster after a restart.
If you run into an “Oh no something has gone wrong” error on login, just log out, click on the login avatar, and find the settings icon in the bottom right corner. There, just switch from ‘Ubuntu on Xorg’ to just ‘Ubuntu’ and log back in. Your new system should just work fine now.
