Apple has unveiled the 10th Gen iPad 10.9 Models and they are now available to pre-order online in India from Apple Store and will soon be available to purchase from Flipkart / Amazon.in etc. While the 8th gen and 9th gen iPad models came with a 10.2-inch display, the new iPad 10th gen has a slightly bigger 10.9-inch display. There are a few welcome changes as well as some not-so-welcome changes on the new 2022 10th-Gen Apple iPad.

You can easily guess the new 10th Gen iPad 10.9 is not actually replacing the older 9th Gen iPad models when you look at their launch prices. The price for the new iPad 10th Gen in India starts at ₹44900 while the 9th Gen was available for as low as ₹24900 during the Oct Great Indian Festival 2022 Sale ( MRP Price: ₹33900 ).

Apple has removed the Touch ID button from the 10th Gen iPad 10.9. Touch ID unlock is still there, but it’s now moved to the power button. Apple is ditching its lightning port and is moving to USB Type-C on these new models. The camera which used to be on the Portrait side is now moved to the Landscape side, and it now has more Pixels to let you make better video calls.

The rear camera is now 12MP and has an F1.8 aperture lens. It now supports 4K video recording @ 24fps, 25fps, 30fps and 60fps. The Landscape Ultra Wide camera on the front is also 12MP. It has an F2.4 aperture lens. There is no 4K recording support available on this camera.

The new iPad 10th Gen 10.9 still only supports the first-gen Apple pencil. There is no Apple M1 or M2 chip available, but it now has a fast A14 Bionic Chip. The 9th gen models came with an A13 Bionic chip. It now works with Magic Keyboard Folio while older models only support Smart Keyboard.

Older iPad 8th and 9th Gen models only supported WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2. The new 10th Gen iPad comes with Wi‑Fi 6 (802.11ax, 2.4GHz and 5GHz ) and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity.

Xiaomi Pad 5 First Sale on May 3rd [ Amazon India ]

Good Android Tablets are quite rare and are hard to find in Indian online markets. Apart from the Samsung Galaxy Tab series and the Apple iPad series, you don’t have many good tablet options available to consider purchasing. Google itself doesn’t care much about Android tablets and hasn’t released any new official Google Pixel tablets in a while. Xiaomi Pad 5 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 chipset and features an 11-inch WQHD+ resolution screen. It supports a max refresh rate of 120hz and a peak brightness of 500nits. This panel offers 100% DCI-P3 color gamut for a good visual experience.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 is an octa-core processor which has 1x Cortex-A76 core, 3x Cortex-A76 cores, and 4x Cortex-A55 cores. For graphics, it has Adreno 640 GPU. This process offers similar performance to Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset which we saw on many flagship phones like OnePlus 8T, Xiaomi Mi 10T, Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, etc. It is not the latest flagship Snapdragon chipset but is a very capable processor to have in an Android device.

Xiaomi Pad 5 can be bought in two storage configurations. The base model has 6GB Ram and 128GB storage. You can get this with 6GB Ram and 256GB Storage. It uses LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. Xiaomi has equipped this tablet with an 8720mAh battery and uses a USB Type-C port to juice it up. Like every other Xiaomi Android device, it runs on a modified MIUI-based Android operating system. We currently don’t have any info on the exact Android version this model will ship with in India.

Xiaomi Pad 5 comes with a Xiaomi Smart Pen. This supports Magnetic Wireless Charging and can be fully charged in 18 mins. A 60s charge will let you use it for up to 20 mins. This smartpen supports 4096-level pressure sensitivity offering precise, smooth pen strokes.

There are two cameras on the Xiaomi Pad 5. You get a 13MP rear shooter as well as an 8MP front camera. The rear can shoot up to 4K @ 30fps videos while the front camera tops up at Full HD 1080P @ 30fps. It has 4 speakers and supports Dolby Atmos audio.

You can buy Xiaomi Pad 5 in two color options – Pearl White and Cosmic Gray. Currently, we don’t if Xiaomi will be launching both of these colors in India. This post will be updated with the launch prices and first sale info once it becomes available.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra 5G up for Pre-order on Amazon India

Good Android Tablets are often hard to find. Even Google doesn’t make an Android tablet anymore. This could all change though, thanks to the upcoming Android 12L version which is designed for tablets. Despite Apple iPad’s popularity, and lack of tablet-focused updates from Google, Samsung didn’t shy away from making, high-end Android tablets with flagship specs and features.

During the 2022 Samsung Unpacked event, the South Korean giants have announced the new Galaxy S8 Tab Series. There are 3 different models available in this series – Galaxy Tab S8, S8 Plus, and S8 Ultra. As is the norm, these Galaxy Tabs will be available WiFi only or with 5G connectivity.
