Welcome to the June 2024 Google Pixel Feature Drop! Google has unveiled a suite of incredible new capabilities for your Pixel devices. This month, Google is rolling out significant upgrades across the Pixel portfolio, from phones to watches to tablets. Let’s dive into what’s new and how these enhancements can make your Pixel experience even better.

For Pixel Phones

Gemini Nano Expands to Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a

Gemini Nano, Google’s most efficient AI model for on-device tasks, is now available as a developer option on Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a. To enable this, simply navigate to the developer options in your Pixel’s settings.

Advanced Transcription with Recorder App

Gemini powers the Summarize feature in the Recorder app on Pixel 8 and 8a, delivering detailed, downloadable summaries. The app now detects and includes speaker names, enhancing conversational transcripts. You can easily export these transcripts to text files or Google Docs, making it perfect for managing interviews and class lectures.

Enhanced Viewing Experience

Pixel 8a, Pixel 8, and Pixel 8 Pro now support displaying content on a larger screen via USB-C. Enjoy your favorite movies, shows, and presentations on a bigger screen with ease.

Improved Find My Device

Never lose track of your phone again. The upgraded Find My Device feature can now locate your phone even when it’s off or the battery is dead, ensuring your location data remains encrypted and private.

Optimized Photo Capture

The Pixel camera now automatically identifies the best moment for a photo in HDR+ with just a single shutter press. This means it’s easier to capture photos where your face is in focus and smiling.

Reverse Phone Number Search

With just a few taps, you can now perform a reverse phone number search directly from your call log, making it easier to identify unknown callers.

Google Wallet Expansion

Google Wallet has expanded to India, allowing more people to securely store and access everyday essentials like boarding passes, loyalty cards, event tickets, public transport tickets, and gift cards.

Manual Camera Lens Selection

Gain more control over your photos with the ability to manually select which camera lens to use, ensuring you capture the perfect shot every time.

For Pixel Watches

Car Crash Detection for Pixel Watch 2

Launching in time for National Safety Month, Car Crash Detection on Pixel Watch 2 enhances your safety. In the event of a severe car accident, your watch can check on you and, if necessary, automatically dial emergency services. This feature integrates with Emergency Sharing to notify your emergency contacts with your real-time location.

Enhanced Payment Options

Now you can link your PayPal account to Google Wallet on your Pixel Watch, making it even more convenient to pay without needing your physical wallet.

Revamped Google Home App

Control your smart home devices directly from your Pixel Watch with the updated Google Home app. Access your Google Home Favorites with a swipe, adjust your home’s temperature, dim the lights, and more, all from your wrist.

For Pixel Tablet

Richer Doorbell Notifications

When your Pixel Tablet is docked in hub mode, you’ll receive richer doorbell notifications with a snapshot of who is at your door. You can use two-way talk or send a Quick Response directly from your tablet.

Smart Home Favorites Widget

The new Google Home Favorites widget provides quick, customizable smart home controls on your tablet home screen. Easily adjust your thermostat, turn on your lights, and more with just a tap.

These exciting new features make your Pixel devices even more indispensable.
