Xiaomi Pad 5 First Sale on May 3rd [ Amazon India ]

Good Android Tablets are quite rare and are hard to find in Indian online markets. Apart from the Samsung Galaxy Tab series and the Apple iPad series, you don’t have many good tablet options available to consider purchasing. Google itself doesn’t care much about Android tablets and hasn’t released any new official Google Pixel tablets in a while. This might change though in the future thanks to the Android 12L Tablet version development.

Xiaomi Pad 5 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 chipset and features an 11-inch WQHD+ resolution screen. It supports a max refresh rate of 120hz and a peak brightness of 500nits. This panel offers 100% DCI-P3 color gamut for a good visual experience.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 is an octa-core processor which has 1x Cortex-A76 core, 3x Cortex-A76 cores, and 4x Cortex-A55 cores. For graphics, it has Adreno 640 GPU. This process offers similar performance to Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset which we saw on many flagship phones like OnePlus 8T, Xiaomi Mi 10T, Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, etc. It is not the latest flagship Snapdragon chipset but is a very capable processor to have in an Android device.

Xiaomi Pad 5 can be bought in two storage configurations. The base model has 6GB Ram and 128GB storage. You can get this with 6GB Ram and 256GB Storage. It uses LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. Xiaomi has equipped this tablet with an 8720mAh battery and uses a USB Type-C port to juice it up. Like every other Xiaomi Android device, it runs on a modified MIUI-based Android operating system. We currently don’t have any info on the exact Android version this model will ship with in India.

Xiaomi Pad 5 comes with a Xiaomi Smart Pen. This supports Magnetic Wireless Charging and can be fully charged in 18 mins. A 60s charge will let you use it for up to 20 mins. This smartpen supports 4096-level pressure sensitivity offering precise, smooth pen strokes.

There are two cameras on the Xiaomi Pad 5. You get a 13MP rear shooter as well as an 8MP front camera. The rear can shoot up to 4K @ 30fps videos while the front camera tops up at Full HD 1080P @ 30fps. It has 4 speakers and supports Dolby Atmos audio.

You can buy Xiaomi Pad 5 in two color options – Pearl White and Cosmic Gray. Currently, we don’t if Xiaomi will be launching both of these colors in India. This post will be updated with the launch prices and first sale info once it becomes available.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra 5G up for Pre-order on Amazon India

Good Android Tablets are often hard to find. Even Google doesn’t make an Android tablet anymore. This could all change though, thanks to the upcoming Android 12L version which is designed for tablets. Despite Apple iPad’s popularity, and lack of tablet-focused updates from Google, Samsung didn’t shy away from making, high-end Android tablets with flagship specs and features.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite launching in India on June 23rd on Amazon

Samsung has announced the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite India launch date. It will go on sale on June 23rd 2021 online via Amazon.in. In the US, the price for this model is $159. The expected launch price in India is Rs 12,999 – Rs 13,999. Check here for more info on launch offers and current lowest prices.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is an entry-level budget tablet powered by Mediatek MT8768T Helio P22T octa-core processor. It features an 8.7 inch, 800 x 1340 pixels display with a 5:3 aspect ratio and 179PPI. This model ships with Android 11 with Samsung’s One UI on top.

It is expected to come in two storage options – 32GB and 64GB. The promo page on Amazon lists it to come with 3GB of ram and 32GB of storage. So the 4GB ram 64GB models will be launched at a later time. It will also come with WiFi + LTE options. To get more storage, you can add a micro sd card, up to 1TB supported. Samsung has equipped this model with a 5100mAh battery.

Is Galaxy Tab A7 Lite worth buying?
For general media consumption, this looks like an ok device to buy. The pixel resolution (PPI) is quite low on this device as this doesn’t have a Full HD screen which has become common on almost all Android smartphones at this price range. The front camera is just 2MP, which is not expected to offer great video quality during your skype and zoom calls. You can do basic gaming, often at the lowest or mid settings. It’s a budget tablet, so don’t expect exceptional performance out of it.

The display on this model is an 11 inch IPS screen with a 2K resolution ( 2000×1200 ). The max brightness supported by this screen is 400nits.

The latency of the S-Pen is improved is now quite low. You can buy these tablets with 6GB or 8GB of ram with 128GB, 256GB and 512GB storage options. You can expand the storage further with a micro sdcard slot.

In the camera department, both these models carry identical sensors. There is a 13MP F2.0 main camera and a 5MP ultra-wide camera at the back. On the front, you get a 8MP F2.0 aperture lens for video calls and selfies.
