Read this before buying a new Laptop in 2022

Thanks to the ongoing Pandemic and forced to Work From Home scenarios, Laptops have become one of the best-selling electronics products online in India as well as in other parts of the world. The new year 2022 is here, and the Covid pandemic is still out there, now getting more problematic thanks to the new Omicron variant. Chances are you will be working from home in 2022 as well.

If your current laptop is showing its age, lagging, and freezing, you would now be considering getting a new laptop. We already saw many new laptop launches in 2022 from OEMs like Lenovo, Acer, Asus, Dell etc. Is it wise to go purchase those laptops now? If you ask me, my buying advice would be to wait.

Why should you wait to buy a new laptop in 2022?

Most current laptops launching in the early part of 2022 ( Jan, Feb ) are powered by 11th Gen Intel processors or 5th Gen AMD Ryzen processors. Don’t get me wrong here, these are good and capable processors to have in a laptop, and will let you get things done without any issues.

However, recently Intel has announced their 12th Gen Core i3 / Core i5 / Core i7 / Core i9 processors made for Laptops. We are gonna see many laptops launching with these new and more powerful processors in mid to late 2022. During the CES show this year, AMD has unveiled Ryzen 6000 laptop CPUs which are replacing older AMD 5000 Series chipsets. So, we are soon going to see a flurry of new laptops powered by 12th Gen Intel processors and AMD 6000 Series CPUs in the market.

So if you are not in a hurry, and your current laptop is still going OK, it’s better to wait for the upcoming laptops to drop with these new processors. They are probably going to sell for similar prices as the current-gen versions.
